Regional Trainee, ABC News

The ABC are looking for a Regional Trainee who’ll gain fantastic experience creating broadcast, digital, social media and mobile content for the ABC. This role can be based in Regional SA (Renmark, Mount Gambier, Port Pirie and Port Lincoln) Broken Hill or Alice Springs.

The role includes:

  • Suggesting, researching and creating compelling local radio, video and digital content
  • Pre-recording interviews, taking and editing photos; shooting and producing videos and uploading digital and social media content
  • Developing your reporting skills
  • Developing your producing skills
  • Developing production skills with all studio and field equipment

About You

Are you interested in telling and sharing stories? If you are, then this job is for you. You’ll be supported in this role by mentors and staff on location who’ll train you in many of the roles undertaken in regional bureaus. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person who can bring a perspective from their culture and who is keen to tell and share stories to our audiences.

Appropriate support and mentoring will be provided to facilitate your success in this role.

Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures
Ability to engage with diverse communities and understand issues that affect the local audience
An interest in broadcast, digital and social media technology with experience publishing on social media alongside using it as a research tool
Sound editorial skills with the ability to source and analyse information
